With sales of over two million copies, Di Morrissey is one of the most successful and prolific authors Australia has ever produced. She trained as a journalist, working in newspapers, magazines, television, film, theatre and advertising around the world. Her fascination with different countries, their landscape, their cultural, political and environmental issues, has been the catalyst for her novels which are all inspired by a particular landscape.
Recently Di was featured on Channel 7 show The Daily Edition promoting her new book ‘The Red Coast’ and fashioning a stunning opal pendant by Vicki Bokros and James Tyler.
Di contacted me and asked if I would design a pendant for her beautiful opal. It was to be a special piece to mark the launch of ‘The Red Coast’. She had previously visited my gallery and admired my designs and eye for detail. My brief, ‘Art Nouveau, Fleur-de-lis, Art Deco’. What a challenge!
In collaboration with James Tyler from James Tyler Jewellery, Brisbane, the final design was beautifully crafted combining all the characteristics of fine decorative art, floral accents, geometric forms and glamour!
Pendant approx 65mm/35mm/8mm set in Sterling Silver & 18k Yellow Gold.
